LDC Round 8: Fenix lose to Santiago Max

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LDC. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Top ranked Fenix (6-2) recorded its second loss on the court of third ranked Santiago Max on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Santiago Max 116-108. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Santiago Max outrebounded Fenix 51-34 including 23 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Franklyn Jaquez (197-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Figueroa chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Santiago Max's coach Melvin Sanchez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Yensi Jimenez (189-1998) produced 30 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Santiago Max (5-3) moved-up to second place, which they share with Capitanes. Fenix at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Santiago Max is looking forward to face Del Patio (#4) in the next round. Fenix's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Santiago Basket.

Sameji was smashed at home by 29 points 86-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. American forward James Milton (203-1992, college: Stevenson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Angel Rivas contributed with 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Canadian-Ghanian point guard James Agyeman (178-1994) replied with 16 points and 6 assists for Sameji. Immortals have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Sameji at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. They share the position with Evolve OL. Immortals will play against Evolve OL (#4) in the next round. Sameji's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Capitanes.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Santiago Basket (4-4) against fourth ranked Del Patio (3-5) on Friday night. Host Santiago Basket was defeated by Del Patio in a tough game in Santiago 110-115. Worth to mention a great performance of Brahian Mendez who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Domont Wright responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Del Patio maintains fourth position with 3-5 record. Loser Santiago Basket keeps the second place with four games lost. Del Patio will meet at home league's second-placed Santiago Max in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Santiago Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Fenix.

In the last game of round 8 Evolve OL was defeated by Capitanes in Santiago 122-104.



Sameji - Immortals 86-115

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Immortals (#1) and Sameji (#3). Sameji was smashed at home by 29 points 86-115 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Immortals dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Sameji's 56. They outrebounded Sameji 45-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. American forward James Milton (203-1992, college: Stevenson) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Angel Rivas (198-1993) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Capitanes - Evolve OL 122-104

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Evolve OL's (1-7) road loss to third ranked Capitanes (5-3) 104-122 on Tuesday. Capitanes dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Evolve OL's 60. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Capitanes made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Oliver Ferreira (189-1993) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists and center Adris Rodriguez (203-1988) who added 18 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. American guard DeJon Waters Jr (190-1997, college: Pitt St.) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Greg Richardson (201-1986) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes moved-up to second place, which they share with Santiago Max. Evolve OL lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Sameji. Capitanes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Sameji.
